PLACES
A walk beside the canals.
The useful thing about a morning walk is that it has no agenda. Bridges divide the route into small decisions: follow the water, cross to the other bank, or take the narrow street that disappears behind a row of houses.
Reflections change faster than the buildings. A passing bicycle interrupts a window in the water, and a boat rearranges the whole picture. Looking at the same place twice is rarely looking at the same scene.
For a while, the map can stay in a pocket. The water offers enough direction.
